The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card is back with a huge welcome bonus of 5 free nights — worth up to 250,000 total points (2024)

One of the best hotel credit card offers we’ve ever seen has returned. The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card*The information for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card has been collected independently by CNN Underscored. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. has brought back a jaw-dropping bonus that’s only been available a handful of times — so if you’ve had your eye on this card, now is the time to apply.

For a limited time, you can earn 5 Free Night Awards (each night valued up to 50,000 points) after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first three months from your account opening.

If you redeem the bonus Free Night Awards at Marriott hotels that charge exactly 50,000 points per night, you could get a value of 250,000 points from this offer. That is an excellent deal, and a 50,000-per-night rate is possible with Marriott brands such as Sheraton and Westin. If you prefer to book stays for fewer points per night, though, you’ll get less value from this offer.

Here’s how to decide if the new Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card offer is right for you.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless: Earn 5 Free Night Awards

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card most recently offered three Free Night Awards (worth up to 50,000 points each) after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening. So, this new bonus is significantly better.

But this offer is less appealing if you prefer to get points instead of certificates. Hotel credit cards typically offer a certain number of points as a welcome bonus, and you can decide whether to stretch your rewards into more nights by booking lower-category hotels, or splurge on fewer nights at fancier (and pricier) brands.

With this Bonvoy Boundless offer, you’ll get five nights — no more, no less — whether you use your Marriott Free Night Awards at budget-friendly Fairfield Inns or upscale Westins. That makes the bonus a lot less flexible, so you’ll want to consider your travel preferences and style before you apply.

That said, you can “top-up” Free Night Award certificates with up to 15,000 points from your Marriott Bonvoy account. That means you could redeem these free nights at hotels that cost up to 65,000 points if you have enough points in your account to make up the shortfall.

Another drawback to consider is that these certificates expire. They’re only good for 12 months after the date of issue, and they can’t be extended. If you don’t have travel plans over the next year, you might want to skip this offer and instead choose a card that offers a bonus of points.

Other reasons to consider the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card

Even without an elevated welcome bonus, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card is a great option for travelers who like to stay at Marriott hotels. It’s got a manageable $95 annual fee, and in return, it offers an impressive range of benefits.

Year after year, it makes sense to keep paying the annual fee on this card because of one lucrative perk: Cardholders receive a Free Night Award worth up to 35,000 points after each account anniversary (certain hotels have resort fees). If you know you’ll stay at a Marriott hotel at least once a year, keeping this card in your wallet makes a lot of sense.

You’ll also receive automatic Silver elite status, which is Marriott’s lowest elite tier. You don’t get a ton of perks as a Silver elite — think priority late checkout and a 10% points bonus on paid stays — but if you spend $35,000 or more on the card in a calendar year, you’ll unlock Marriott Gold elite status.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card gives you a boost toward the next level of elite status in other ways, too. You’ll automatically get 15 elite night credits added to your Bonvoy account each year, and for every $5,000 spent, you’ll earn an additional elite night credit.

Other card perks include trip delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursem*nt, secondary car rental insurance, purchase protection and extended warranty. Plus, you can use your card overseas without extra costs, because it doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

Alternatives to the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

Chase and American Express issue a whopping six Marriott credit cards between them, ranging from the entry-level Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card to the $650-annual-fee Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card (terms apply, see rates and fees).

Opening a Marriott credit card is a smart strategy if you stay with Marriott regularly, but if you’re not loyal to the brand, a card that earns transferable Chase Ultimate Rewards® or American Express Membership Rewards® points is likely a better bet. You can transfer points from either of these programs to Marriott Bonvoy at a 1:1 ratio, as well as to many other airline and hotel partners.
